Features

Generate Grid

Pick your resolution, choose how many rows and columns you want, hand-pick the colour for each cell, and click OK.

Leverage colour palettes

Copy a palette link from coolors.co, then hold Ctrl while clicking Generate Grid — the add-on pulls the palette colours in for you.

Edit Grid

Change the colours of specific cells or add new rows and columns, and see the changes in real time.

Generate and edit gradients

Set resolution and row count, choose horizontal or vertical, then define start and end colours for each row.

Fit UVs

An experimental feature that scales the selected UVs down and moves them to fit inside a grid cell.

Setup

Installation

  1. Download the add-on as a zip file.
  2. Open Blender and go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons.
  3. Click Install at the top right of the Preferences window.
  4. Select the downloaded zip, then press Install Add-on.
  5. Tick the checkbox beside the add-on's name to activate it.
  6. If you don't already have the Pillow library, use the install pillow button in Preferences.
If Blender is installed on your C drive you may need to launch it as administrator for the Pillow step to succeed. Once done, the Color Grid panel lives in the side panel of the Image Editor.
